Yes, those are dresses -- or more accurately, tutus. Or were they square dance skits? In any case, it was Mother's Day, and it's a northwest tradition to wear a dress and climb or ski St. Helens. I think there were something like 300+ permitted climbers that day, and we were just 3 of them. I will say that more than once we were told we had the prettiest dresses on the mountain.
